Logistic and Transporting – Dead Sea Salt Harvesting

TSM transported 141 meters Long electric maritime dredgers built, these machines are among the largest of their kind.

The salt harvest is a national project whose purpose is to prevent the continued rise of the sea level in the southern part of the Dead Sea and the flooding of the hotels foundations and road 90 that lies along the shores.

The process of extracting the huge amounts of salt will be carried out by three electric maritime dredgers built especially for the project, reaching 141 meters in length and 24 meters in width, these machines are among the largest of their kind to ever be built.

 

The Project:

TSM was appointed as the logistics representative of DAMEN, the Dutch company responsible for building the Barge/ Dredger, taking a full responsibility including all the logistics needs of the company from the stage of design and transportation of the shipments up to the arrival of the shipments to the site at the dead sea, including concentrating the activity and representing the company in front of Israeli authorities.

The project included, Air freight, and Ocean shipments of containers including special equipment containers (Open Top, Flat etc.) as well as inland transportation abroad of parts with special unusual dimensions for the digging barge / dredger for harvesting salt, from the Netherlands and the Far East to Ashdod port, storage in logistics warehouses, customs clearance, and inland transportation from the port to the Dead Sea site with police coordination and escort, unloading at the site using special cranes.
